Hello again all, this is Tristram Seville (formerly BrandonSiville2001 on this board). As you may be able to tell I have finally chosen my persona name for the KToD. As such I am to the point of madness over here with trying to find a decent way to acquire a Templar surcoat. The patterns that I would have used before are now out of print. Does anyone have any suggestions on what patern I should get as I need to make several surcoats.

Onto a happier subject, the mother of my son and I have gotten back together to make a proper go of it as it has been nearly ten years since we split up (we were 19 and stupid). She is interested in Dagorhir as well as joining up with the KToD as she is a member of a United Methodist church locally (I'm non-denominational).

I am also staying in the Toledo, Ohio area and seem to have attracted a few other people who are both interested in Dagorhir and the KToD. In my realm there are actually precedents for paladins and as such I am striving for that in character with this persona.

Figured I would update everyone and wish you all the best with your respective events on the East Coast. I am going to be trying my best to make it to Badon Hill this year and hope to see you all there. I also hope that there are templars near here that will take an interest and attend a few Eryndor events.

Sounds good! I could make a proper tutorial given a bit of time or, failing that send you a Surcoat(or Tabbard) for you to deconstruct.

That would be cool. I would prefer a surcoat as I generally tend to favor longer tunics/surcoats that would come down to my shins. To be honest I think I may have found a pattern that will work. Its one of the discontinued patterns but it is still available here http://mccallpattern.mccall.com/m5683-p ... age_id=990

I am assuming that as I am just joining and haven't actually met any of you yet that my rank within the unit is that of Squire, which is cool. I am just curious as to how I would advance in rank being so far away from everyone who has a say in how I progress.

On another note, my avatar is a customization of my own personal coat of arms I've done for my character. The cross moline and tree are both additions.

Ragnarok, Gates of Fire, and Badon Hill. These are the main events where everyone shows up. If at some point you wanted to head over to Wellington Ohio to say hey that's where I'm at. If you have the basic equipment and the right attitude then you'll fit right in just fine. From there showing up to two or so of those events will more than likely get you the title of sergeant. Local practices do help as well as battles but it's mostly those three camp outs that we pay attention to. All that really matters to us is whether or not your fun to hang around with.

Also, the avatar is nice but remember that you'll have to have our standard issue Surcoat with center cross, as well as the full cross on the shield (if applicable). A belt flag with the heraldry would do nicely though

Oh, I fully understand about the requirement for the standard surcoat. The pattern that I linked was just that, a pattern basis. I actually used to have that pattern and had someone working on stuff for me but It never panned out and came up missing. The uppermost surcoat is eight panels but I'm relatively certain that the person I just got in contact with to do the sewing would be able to do the appropriate modifications. The belt favor is a good idea as is what I also intend on doing for campouts.

I'm intending on making a personal banner for my particular campsite. Badon is the only event of those three that I can make it to this year. However my chapter has at least two campout events this year and is, I believe, co-sponsor of Badon Hill. And your about two hours away from where I currently live and am staying so that's pretty cool Richard.

The surcoat pattern is fine I just meant your heraldry couldn't be on your shield or surcoat. A flag is probably okay though. I'll send you our extremely outdated members manual. It's pretty overwhelming huge and mostly filled with redundant info so I suggest reading the parts that go over what our group is about rather than the weapon tutorials and such.
